Milk and fiber
Oh goodness, I've rarely been this excited about adding livestock to our family before... I just found out that tomorrow I'm bringing home five sheep for the lowly price of $250. There's a black Icelandic ewe, two Icelandic wethers (one is chocolate and one is taupe), and a Romney ram and ewe.
I know nothing about sheep, except what I've researched in the last 24 hours. Time will tell how they work out for us, but I am elated. Already friends have shown interest in wool and fleece, and of course the milk has twice as much butterfat as goat milk. I've found a local breeder with a reputation for quality purebred stock, so I'm planning to breed the Icelandic ewe right away. We.are.in.business. YEAH!
